Epic Death Guard Land Raider Proteus

I have had these old Land Raider models since they first came out in the Space Marine boxed set. Back in the day I painted them silver, applied a brown wash to represent them being rusty and old, and called them Death Guard land raiders.
These days I dedicate a little bit more time to Death Guard models when I paint them, so spruced them up to match my contemporary Death Guard 30k (and 40k) theme.

Death Blades Veterans

The 9th Necromundan Death Blades F Company 1st Veteran Squad (Crossref 22Nec9F11) are made up of the most experienced and competent fighters in the company. Organised into first platoon, and reporting to the company commander they are typically used as forward scouts, observers and often given the most difficult battlefield assignments. Here they are equipped in an anti-armour role, with riflemen providing fire support for melta guns and a lascannon team. Unlike other Death Blades uniforms first squad have camo pattern fatigues, to assist in their covert operations, often deploying forward of the main task force.

Undead Samurai Li-Che

This is the second undead samurai model that I've finished. I had painted this model previously as a test model, with yellows on the robes rather than the browns and reds here.
I am still settling on a theme for this unit, and the army overall, but think that brown, black and red, with rusty oranges and yellows is going to give me what I am after.

Death Blades Veteran Test Model

I have done up a test model for the Death Blades veteran squad to see how I would go with the camo scheme that I had planned.
The intent for this squad is to paint and model them in the black and white striped pattern that was used back in the day.
I also wanted to add in some kill banners and the like to show that these are veterans, and to help them stand out from the rest of the Death Blade crowd.

An Undead Samurai

Every now and then I do something that really surprises me!
I am working on a veteran squad for my Rogue Trader era Imperial Guard, trying to maintain the focus on those. As well as that I am working on Epic Death Guard Terminators as a backup. The painting backlog is quite formidable, so I am trying hard to be disciplined and focus my energy in the right place to get my armies finished before starting the next one.
So I reach into my draw and grab a mail order packet that was shoved up the back, thinking "I wonder what is in here?".
A few hours (and one episode of the Eye of Horus podcast) later I have a painted undead samurai standard bearer for my old lead undead army. I still don't really know how it happened, but I'm happy that it did!

Death Blades as 30k Imperialis Militia

One of the things that I have been thinking about doing, but haven't actually done yet, is to use my Rogue Trader era Imperial Guard models in a game of 30k.

While the repainting of my guardsmen (into the scheme shown in this old Rogue Trader artwork) isn't complete, I probably have enough done now to play some reasonable sized games. Below are some of the units that I have painted up, and what I might field them as in 30k games.
