The Birth of Foulmaw Cavlolo

I have recently been mucking about with Realms of Chaos again, and decided to roll up a warband that was both characterful, and somehow linked a chaos warband to my 3rd edition undead army.
My undead army is based around the Nightmare Legion, which occupy the Tilean City State of Lambrusco. So a champion of Tilean origin seemed like a good place to start.

Initially I rolled up a basic human with no followers and no gifts. I also discovered that my random dice app wasn't random, so 3d10 always returned the same result the first time you used it after opening it.  Based on this I decided to ignore the result of no followers, and rolled up two groups, with one ability each.  But first I downloaded a decent dice app! And then I discovered this blog that justified what I was thinking of doing...

Harbo's Headshots

Like the 9th Necromundan, the 4th Dunbarian Ratling Regiment was bound for the escalating war in the Isa sub-cluster before being intersected en-route by an Inquisitorial delegation. The Inquisitor requisitioned a platoon of ratlings for his own use before ordering the rest of the regiment onward.

The Oldhammer Community

I have just discovered the growing community of Oldhammer folk.
People like myself, who can remember different times, where back story was important, and miniatures were less detailed, but more creative.

I stumbled upon the oldhammers because I was in the process of converting my Rogue Trader imperial guardsmen back to their original paint scheme.

Rather than start a new blog for a handful of models, (that would get updated about as frequently as this one!) I have decided to roll it into one somewhat related blog.

My chaos army has old models. My imperial guard army has old models, and are currently being used as muscle by the inquisitor who is after my traitors, so it sort of makes sense. In a loose kind of way. If I ever update my old marines they will make an appearance too.

So in an attempt to keep things ticking along at the lightning pace of 2 updates a year, here is something I have been working on.

Di'Anno was a ruthless gang leader prior to his induction into the guard, and his natural leadership abilities and level head made him an obvious choice for a company commander. His reputation for ending blood feuds quickly ensured that no one challenged his authority as he took command of F Company. Unusually, Di'Anno wears the standard uniform for a captain, complete with officers hat. This is no doubt due to the recent attachment of fresh commissariat officers to the regiment after the deaths of the previous appointments.

So I will need to add to these guys obviously, but have plenty planned. Time on the other hand...

a list by any other name is still as sweet

I have been mucking around with Death Guard 6th edition lists a little bit lately, and just thought I would post one here.

This is a fairly no-nonsense list designed to take and hold the centre of the board, hopefully claiming nearby objectives as they come available.

Notes from a tourney

I went to a local tourney last weekend, and wandered around to look at the different armies on display, and was pleased with what I saw.
One obvious thing that I noticed was that no two armies were the same. The combination of 6th edition rules leveling the playing field, and the inclusion of allies resulted in some uncharacterful, yet unique armies.

Servants of Decay

So a bit about my armies of the 41st Millennium.

I've been playing 40k since the early nineties or there abouts, with dabbles in Rogue Trader (using some old photocopies that I managed to get my hands on). In that time I've collected a couple of armies. But the main theme, and the focus of this blog, seems to be my collection of Nurgle armies.

I have a Death Guard themed force, clocking in at around 6000 points I suppose (I haven't ever worked it out), and a similar sized Traitor Imperial Guard army. I tend to collect models that I like, and try to aim for the ability to field all of the units in a codex (with the exception of units dedicated to other chaos powers).

It lives....

It lives! Arise my pretty!

Over the years  I have started various project logs on various forums, documenting my different tabletop wargaming armies. Partly as a training exercise, and mostly from a desire to stay organised I have decided to throw them all together here in one blog.

Thus on the eve of a lunar eclipse in the dark night of a new moon, Ragged They Kill is born.

So what is it all about? Who knows. It should have some pictures of painted wargaming models, some random commentary on life and the occasional battle report if I ever play any of these games again.

The title comes from a Rob Zombie song, Ragged they come  and ragged they kill, which I ripped off adopted as a motto for my nurglesque fascination. ;)

So that's that.
